A position of Seismologist is available at SEIS-UK, a NERC funded national
facility for portable seismic instrumentation and data management based in
the Geology Department at the University of Leicester (see
http://www.le.ac.uk/seis-uk ). These systems are available for use on
research projects organised by members of the UK academic community and the
seismologist is required to work in the team managing them. The post holder
will be responsible for assisting in the development and documentation of
field use and data management procedures. They will also be required to
assist in the training of new equipment users, both in the UK and on
research projects worldwide.
Candidates should have experience with geophysics fieldwork (preferably
seismic) and be familiar with UNIX and PC computing environments.
Experience of basic system administration and writing of script files will
be an advantage. A first degree in Geophysics or a physical science is
required, further qualifications or experience would be desirable.
