Dear Geo-Mineral People,
Just to let those that are interested know that the new list of PhD topics
based in the Economic Geology Research Unit at James Cook University have
been released. Details about the projects and contact information can be
found at:
http://www.es.jcu.edu.au/research/EGRU/egru2.shtml.html
Overseas students can apply for an IPRS (International Postgrad Research
Scholarship) through JCU that will pay the fees and health costs, and they
will then be awarded a stipend from JCU. The application for the IPRS
scheme closes on September 30th and so anyone interested should not
delay. The successful applicant would start in March 2005. Information
and application forms can be found at:
http://www.jcu.edu.au/office/grs/scholarships/index.html
We are especially keen to get good students with an interest in fluid
geochemistry, mechanical and/or chemical modelling and ore systems.
EGRU is a globally recognised economic geology research unit with students
benefiting from the close affiliation of our industry members. There are
also projects available at JCU within the predictive mineral discovery
cooperative research centre, which offers enhanced training opportunities
and extra stipend to qualifying students (www.pmdcrc.com.au).
James Cook University is located in Townsville in the northern Queensland
tropics of Australia. We offer a tropical climate (leave your long
trousers at home), barrier reef on the doorstep, golden beaches and
rainforest an hour away.
Please pass this information on to anyone who might be interested. For
further information people should contact the proposed project leader,
Nick Oliver ([log in to unmask]) or me.
Thanks
James Cleverley
