Dear All,

Due to the poor response from delegates for the forthcoming winter
seminar, the MPG have decided to slash the price to £15.
This is an absolute bargain considering the excellent speakers that we
have booked and the fact that the day includes coffee, lunch, entry to
the poignant Tank Museum, plus handouts of the speakers presentations.
Not only will the day be informative, its also a great opportunity for
the museums of the SW and further afield to do some valuable networking.
I strongly recommend that if possible you send a member of your staff
along to learn more about the art of evaluation - its something we all
need to be doing.

Please find below a programme for the day and the flyer with contact
details.

To book a place please e-mail Carla Dolan at [log in to unmask]

MPG Winter Seminar

A leg-up in Evaluation

Tuesday 7 December 2004, 10.00am to 4.30pm
The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, BH20 6JG
Reduced Price: £15

"If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there." (Flying Karamazov Brothers).
Are you finding evaluation difficult to get your head around? Do you find yourself gathering useless data or simply not collecting information at all? Wondering what to evaluate and how?
This seminar is intended to give you a boost in evaluation by looking at what we in museums should be evaluating and from whose viewpoint. Fellow professionals will share the secrets of successful evaluation in major areas including education and audience development, as well as giving you an insight into the challenges they have met along the way. Regional agencies will shed light on their latest initiatives. With funding bodies increasingly looking for evidence of success and areas for improvement, evaluation is something we all need to know about.

Speakers include:

§ Virginia Havergal, Learning Development Officer, SWMLAC
§ Jo Graham, South West Hub Education Consultant
§ Jo Hall, (MUSE), Exhibitions Officer, Plymouth City Museums & Art Gallery
