Hi Michael,
The problem you have encountered has been discussed several times on the
list over the past 2 weeks. Take a look at these posts:

Basically, you have a memory problem. I see you are running Cygwin, in
which it may not be possible (you still run under Windows) to use the
solution proposed by Stephen Smith.
Have a look at your functional data and see if you can crop some of the
non-brain/uninteresting voxels with avwroi. It worked for me! 1300
volumes does sound like a lot though...
