FORENSIC SCIENCE WORKSHOP
The University of Lincoln, Architecture Building, Brayford Campus
Wednesday 21st May 2004
Over the last five years or so, forensic science courses have increased
in number dramatically, with the current number of courses available in
2004 running at nearly 400. This has raised a number of
issues, both in terms of student employability and in developing the
curriculum for such courses.
In terms of employability there is some concern that students may
graduate expecting to become forensic scientists in a relatively small
sized occupation, or whether they simply study out of interest for the
subject and plan to explore wider career goals. With respect to
curriculum development, many courses have evolved from chemistry
related backgrounds and many academics now face the prospect of
developing new and innovative ways of teaching forensic science.
This one day event aims to bring together key people from both an
employer's perspective and that of an academic. People will have the
opportunity to hear and discuss the current issues concerning the
teaching of forensic sciences. They will also be able share ideas and
resources and explore the possibilities for the future development of
forensic science education in the UK

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
During the day there will be an opportunity to hear about the use of
resources and methods for teaching forensic science. If you have any
resources or novel approaches to teaching forensic science (such as the
use of 'crime scenes') then we would welcome contributions to the day.
If you would like to contribute, please contact Paul Chin directly for
further information.
