I have been asked to undertake a study of the effectiveness of aid
provision, in support of internally displaced people in Afghanistan, by the
Danish, British, Swedish, Dutch and Irish Governments since the beginning of
2001. To this end, I will be visiting Afghanistan for the first two weeks in
August, along with another researcher, to interview key informants. Prior to
this, I am undertaking a literature search of documentation produced by
donors, UN agencies, the Afghan government, NGOs etc. relating to strategy,
policy and programming for IDPs over the past three years.
To help in this, I am looking for someone with an academic knowledge of the
refugee/IDP field who would be in a position to read documents sent to them
by email and identify specific information relating to the study/make
comparisons between strategies and outcomes and contribute to the process of
identifying trends and patterns. I would provide all the documentation to be
studied.
This would be for approximately one to two days per week (up to a maximum of
four days per week) from now over the period up to the end of August. The
volume of work would be entirely contingent on the volume of documentation
which comes in from various sources as a result of requests submitted to
donors and others and internet searches. Payment would be based on actual
hours worked at rates determined by the Danish government at a level roughly
equivalent to the last salary of the researcher. If the researcher has no
previous employment, the advice of the Danish government would be sought as
to the appropriate level.
