The IOM Mission in the United Kingdom (IOM London) is inviting

Essential Skills
* A good degree in a relevant social science discipline and/or a
relevant post-graduate qualification
* Grounding in quantitative research methods including

Position Title: Programme Assistant

Nature of appointment: 6 months fixed term
Monthly Gross Salary: 1,915.00 GBP (UN local salary scale)
Organizational Unit: IOM London
General Functions:
Under the direct supervision and close coordination with the Programme Manager
and the overall direction of the Chief of Mission, the Programme Assistant
will provide direct support in the implementation of the Survey on Zimbabwean
nationals in the United Kingdom and South Africa.
Duties will include:
- Assist the Programme Manager with the overall operation of the programme and
report regularly to the Programme Manager
- Identify and develop a database with the list of potential multipliers with
contacts and information about each organisation and inform Programme Manager
of any new developments.
- Carry out a literature review on Zimbabwean migration, diaspora and
transnational activties
- Disseminate information about the programme using the network of multipliers
through outreach activities, mailings, compiling information packs and
presentations
- Assist the Programme Manager in liaising with relevant governmental, non-
governmental organisations, Zimbabwean community groups as well as other
international organizations on programme issues, as necessary
- Assist the Programme Manager in liaising with the Researchers working with
IOM in the United Kingdom and South Africa
- Assist the Programme Manager and the Researchers with the design of the
questionnaire to be used to assess demographic data, needs, qualifications,
professional backgrounds and aspirations of Zimbabwean nationals in the United
Kingdom and South Africa
- Distribute the questionnaire to the multipliers in the United Kingdom in
order to reach the Zimbabwean diaspora across the country
- Organise and conduct the data collection process
- Assisting with the development and management of a database to include
detailed information on those members of the diaspora willing to participate
in the development efforts of Zimbabwe
- Assist the Programme Manager in liaising regularly with MRF Pretoria and
provide colleagues with administrative assistance
- Assist the Programme Manager in drafting reports and notes for files on
activities being conducted under the programme
- Support and assist the Programme Manager in ensuring the correct financial
and statistical data is collected and compiled for reporting
- Attend official meetings, appointments and travel in consultation with the
Programme Manager
- Assist the Programme Manager in the preparation of meetings and
presentations as necessary
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Programme Manager/CoM
