Internship opportunity
The Geneva-based Global Commission on International Migration (GCIM)
wishes to engage an intern to assist with the GCIM’s policy, research and
external relations activities. The responsibilities of the intern will
include:
* monitoring relevant websites and journals for information and analysis
that is of interest to GCIM;
* preparing abstracts and ‘state of the art’ literature reviews on
specific topics related to international migration;
* attending, reporting on and assisting in the organization of meetings
between GCIM and other organizations;
* providing research, drafting and editorial support to members of the
Secretariat; and,
* identifying and contacting research centres, policy institutes and civil
society organizations with an interest and expertise in international
migration.
Appliations for this internship are welcome from candidates who have a
good first degree, and ideally a Masters degree, in social science or
law. A proven interest in international migration is essential, as is the
ability to write and communicate in fluent English. Preference will be
given to candidates who have worked on migration issues outside the field
of refugee studies, and who are able to live and work in Geneva for a
period of six months or longer. Details of GCIM’s work can be found at
www.gcim.org.
Applicants who wish to be considered for this internship should send a CV
(three pages maximum), a writing sample and a covering letter to
[log in to unmask], with the word 'Internship' in the subject line.
