To all graduate students and researchers in the field of refugee studies:
The Centre for Refugee Studies and the Student Caucus of the Centre for
Refugee Studies are hosting a graduate student conference at York University
(Toronto, Canada) on the 1st and 2nd of October 2004. We continue to
solicit proposals for presentations of planned, in-progress and complete
research in the field of refugee issues; the deadline for submissions has
been extended.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to provide travel subsidies
(although accommodation with local graduate students may be able to be
arranged). Should the cost of travel prove prohibitive, we nonetheless
encourage graduate students and researchers in the field of refugee studies
to contribute abstracts and contact information so that these may be
circulated at the conference (in this case, mark your submission
accordingly).
Should anyone require any further information or have any questions, please
do not hesitate to contact the organizing committee at [log in to unmask]

CALL FOR PAPERS

the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University
Global Changes and Global Challenges:
Refugees, Immigrants and International Insecurity
Co-sponsored by the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University
October 1st and 2nd, 2004
York University
The growing national and international interest on the refugee phenomenon is
currently reflected in the growing number of students working in the field
of refugee studies. Post-graduate students in different universities are
researching various aspects of the field from different perspectives. In
recognition of this shared field of research and the mutual benefit of
sharing these different aspects and approaches, the Student Caucus of the
Centre for Refugee Studies at York University is coordinating a conference
with the aim of creating a relaxed and supportive environment in which
post-graduates can meet, present and share their research and their
experience.
All post-graduate students (MA/MSc/MPhil/LLM/PhD, etc.) studying any aspect
of forced migration and refugee studies are invited to submit abstracts for
papers, workshops, posters or any other form of presentation. We also
invite representatives of community organizations to submit papers for the
conference. We also encourage the presentation of works in progress and
planned research projects.
Submissions should be received by Friday September 3rd, 2004 [NOTE: THIS
DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED]. Please send an abstract of 250 words, brief
