The Environmental and Industrial Geophysics Group of the Geological
Society present the annual Field Geophysics Exhibition at the EIGG Test
Site, Stoughton Road, Leicester. This one-day meeting is an ideal
opportunity for practical and research geophysicists, engineers,
archaeologists and surveyors to view the latest geophysical equipment in
a realistic, ‘hands on’ environment. Instruments and software will be
continually demonstrated from 10am to 4pm with ample opportunity for
discussion and practical advise. Refreshments will also be available on
site.
Location: University of Leicester Environmental Test site number 2,
Stoughton Road, Leicester.
Cost: Free to attendees
Techniques being demonstrated include:
· Electromagnetic (Geonics EM38 and EM31)
· Ground Probing Radar (GPR)- (GSSI, Mala & Pulse Ekko)
· Interpretation Software (Geosoft)
· Magnetics - caesium vapour/overhauser (Geometrics, Bartington)
· Resistivity - imaging systems and capacitatively coupled arrays
· Seismic - refraction/reflection/surface wave
