I don't know that the geometry in Cubism is particularly complex or original outside of art. And beware bogus paralells between cubism and relativity based on anything other than zeitgeist...
Personally, I think the role of absinthe in analytical cubism is seriously underexplored. :-)
One interesting angle on cubism comes from the (relatively) recent coignitive aesthetics craze. There's a very interesting idea on why (some) cubism and later Picasso works appeal in this essay and probably the original:
