Ann-Sofie, Hi!
(Hope this is going specifically to you and not the rest of the death group. Can I
presume you are aware of the link with whisky and the dead at Irish funerals? If not
let me know and I can perhaps steer you in an appropriate direction.
Best wishes,
Angela
Dear all,
I have been working some time with Swedish early modern ordinances
concerning abundance (or should it be luxury in English?) at funerals. This
has made me curious about the tradition of serving strong wine, for instance
sherry, in connection with the different gatherings following death (read:
wakes, funerals et c.). Do you have any information about food traditions
related to funerals, and more specific about sherry? Or do you have a clue
about publications on the matter? If so, please contact me. I would be very
grateful!
With kind regards,
Ann-Sofie Arvidsson
