We have gone along with H&S aspects of VWM. Therefore we risk assess each case.
Those who score under 20 on the assessment get sent a letter explaining that there behaviour was unacceptable and that the incident will be kept on file for 6 months if at which point no further incident occur they get removed (verbal/unpleasant)
30 - they get the same and 1 year on the list. (Threatening)
Over 40, which is normally actual physical assault. Racist abuse - something really awful. They are put on the list, and we assess whether in telling them staff are prone to more violence.
We try always to inform people where possible but obviously if someone is consistently violent that isn't always the safest option for staff.
The list is reviewed annually be H & S and Heads of Service.
Hope this helps
Sara Jane
