The Hunt for Kimathi
In Kenya in the 1950s Britain faced the bloodiest revolt of its twilight
years of Empire. In October 1952 the Colonial government in Nairobi declared
a State of Emergency in response to violence from a secret organisation, the
Land and Freedom Army, which became popularly known as the Mau Mau.
One man came to symbolise this violent resistance to British rule, Mau Mau
leader Dedan Kimathi.
This programme tells the story of the hunt for Kimathi, as seen from all
sides.
