Site helps patients participate in care
The National Institutes of Health has launched myexpertdoctor, a new site
which provides patients with personalized feedback and a list of questions
to take to their next office visit. Users complete an online survey about
health, past care received, and medications being taken; based on the
responses, patients receive personalized feedback about their health, the
quality of care they are receiving, and questions to ask their doctors. The
site is being marketed to employers and managed care organizations, and is
designed increase employee productivity and lower medical costs through
healthier patients.
