Sorry, Loren, but you're getting too old (talking about your children
and all that).
In a hydrostatic numerical weather prediction system (i.e., one in which
vertical acceleration can be assumed (close to) zero), the relevant
variables are:
1. Surface pressure PS
2. Temperature T
3. East-West wind speed U
4. North-South Wind speed V
5. Specific humidity Q
How why, for deity's sake, would you give any other name to these
quantities than PS, T, U, V, and Q ?
