But this will not close files and do other "normal termination" steps
that STOP would do. I want to finalize my own objects, and the Fortran
RTL to cleanup itself. Calling the C abort() won't do, though maybe
calling C's exit() (I am not really sure what vendors currently do on
UNIX systems---it seems in F2x exit() and STOP must do pretty much the
same thing).
