tank.tv exhibition at the ICA digital studio
5 August - 5 September 2004
www.tank.tv
tank.tv is pleased to present its first-ever event / exhibition at the ICA.
Created by Tank magazine in 2003 as an online gallery space, tank.tv is an
inspirational showcase of contemporary moving image.
tank.tv's exhibition at the ICA Digital Studio presents a showcase of films
by established and emerging artists recently shown on the tank.tv website.
Dedicated to exhibiting moving images in a free, accessible way. www.tank.tv
acts as a platform for the new, innovative works in film and video.
A minimalist and easy-to-use web design allows the viewer to focus on the
work. Works (all three minutes or shorter) ranges from the narrative to the
experimental, film, video, found footage, animation, digitally manipulated
and documentary video works. From Ben Wright's serene Alpine postcard
occupying a space between still and moving image to Jacques Charlier's
Thank you for Coming' which humorously explores issues of the art world,
and Pipilotti Rist's I am Not the Girl Who Misses Much', the purpose of
tank.tv is to promote a large range of films and videos as well as to create
new possibilities using emerging and exciting technology.
For this exhibition, the ICA Digital Studio will include computers
displaying works by over 60 artists currently and previously shown on
tank.tv allowing the visitors to access the website. Single selected works
will be shown on monitors alongside a series of projections. On the opening
night a special screening will take place in Cinema 2.
