This open meeting of the LIPSIG will discuss working with LIP alongside
other specifications (and how we locate e-portfolio!)
The meeting will be at 10.30 (NOT 11.00) in the Lakeside Conference Centre,
Aston University, Birmingham, before the main Lifelong Learning Programme
meeting. It will provide an overview of where the UK is now and how we are
moving toward implementations. Short briefings will be offered, but it is
mainly an opportunity for discussing the implications of these developments,
in particular to identify what colleagues need to undertake full
implementation of Lifelong Learner records.
In the afternoon, there will be a seminar for colleagues who are not in the
full Lifelong Learning Programme to discuss these issues further.
Lunch will be provided if colleagues outside the Lifelong Learning Programme
let Gail know that you will attend by Tuesday 10 February: -

Short briefings in plain English will bring you up to speed in a number of
key areas, but the meeting is an opportunity for you to identify and discuss
the questions running across these areas. Examples of such issues might
include the ownership and privacy of information, how a learner package may
be divided between an MIS and a Portfolio/Progress File system, how we make
sure that standards are built for the benefit of the community. The
briefings will cover: -
* The work of the IMS e-portfolio team
* LIP and other IMS specifications covering
o Enterprise
o Accessibility
o Content Packaging
* The Io nodes framework for interoperability
* The development of the UK Learner Profile, UKLeaP, the UK version of
IMS LIP, which will form the normative basis of UK standards
* The European Dimension:
o CEN/ISSS and the development of European Standards
o The European e-portfolio Initiatives Coordinating Committee
o TELCERT and conformance testing
