New Artifact homepage - your vote counted!
Artifact, the free guide to the best of the Web for the arts and creative industries.
We are very pleased to launch a new-look homepage for Artifact today which can be viewed
at http://www.artifact.ac.uk
The results of the vote, plus feedback and comments from the community and consultation
with subject specialists, were invaluable in helping us to create the new homepage. Thank
you to all who took the time to vote and email us (over 200 of you!).
- A selection of browse sub-categories can also now be seen at a glance on the homepage,
helping browsers to find what they want much more quickly and easily.
- However, as the vote was quite close (60:40) the 'stick men' have not been lost
completely and can still be found within the browse categories.
New Artist's Index
We are also very pleased to offer a new section within Artifact. The Artist index
contains different types of artiste with links to individual artists and sites within the
Artifact database and can be accessed at http://www.artifact.ac.uk/artistindex.php
Future improvements to watch out for
A review of the Artifact browse subject headings is underway which will re-organise the
top level subject headings as follows: Architecture; Communications Media and Culture;
Design; Fashion and Beauty; Music and Performing Arts; and Visual Arts.
We will also be adding four new sections over the next few months which refer to
cross-disciplinary subjects: Advice and Guidance; Image Banks; Teaching, Learning and
Research; and Collections and Exhibitions.
Finally, cross-searching of other catalogues will be possible with the addition of the
North West Film Archives http://www.nwfa.mmu.ac.uk
catalogue soon to be added.
As ever, we value your comments and feedback so please let us know what you think of the
new design by completing the online feedback form at:
http://www.artifact.ac.uk/feedback.php
With very best wishes from the Artifact Team
