Yes Trevor
A specific collaboration between poets would be most welcome.
I suppose much of my work involves forms of collaboration: spent a few days
over Xmas working in prison with young people (15 to 18). We, the theatre
company, made a video with them, which evolved into a sort of Romeo and
Juliet cocaine soap opera. They wanted a strap, a gun, in every take, but
when
they got into their own balcony scene, the intensity of the acting was
magic, helped perhaps by having a female Juliet.
My slowly evolving 'town hall' project will have to become collaborative if
I can get the groundwork sorted. Was given one of those 'Japanese fan'
moleskin notebooks for Xmas and the way it unfolds like a concertina is the
way I want 'town hall' to breath: small enough to fit in a notebook and bag
but able to unfold into a big space - images, sounds, objects...
Because the street sweeping van rests in the depot on Sundays, this is the
best day for my own street sweeping - and found a brightly coloured US
soldier in the gutter, pistol (strap) raised, almost standing upright in the
dust this morning. Also made an audio recorded walk today. One electric
moment on the recording was when my footsteps went into synchronisation with
the noise from our big food processing plant.
I've tried a few writing collaborations, with some success. Best
collaborations - for me - have been where genres and mediums cross over or
collide. What do you think?
Just off to the local jazz club ('best gig' listed in The Guardian). I go
there to enjoy the sparkling skills (while writing in my notebook), but am
really hoping for that moment - moments - when they lose it, or are daring
enough to try and lose it (at the edge of the cliff).
Best for now, Rupert
PS - Trevor, re-doing Rant Score and will send on.
