Hi Mark
I attended a conference where copyright was one of the topics. From this
I understood that deeplinking was not desirable as it bypasses the
homepage where the majority of sites have their adverts. I have picked
up bits and pieces from the net but nothing substantial as yet. The
whole issue of the net and copyright is still in the early stages I
think. We will have to watch this space.

Mark,
Thanks for the feedback.
I always get the staff to do just that but ask them to reference the
website home page. What I would like to clarify is does the same deal
apply if a sub-page (eg bbc sport) is referenced. There is the argument
that bypassing the front page is not appropriate. I am wondering if it
has any copyright implications.
best,
Arthur

Make sure the page opens in a new window and all is hunky-dory - you're
only doing what Google can do. It is probably a nice thing to reference
the site in the item text, but essentially, as long as you're not
presenting the content INSIDE your own Blackboard site, you're not
presenting it as your own intellectual or legal property. Hence no IPR
or copyright issue. The trick is to get people to ALWYS remember to open
in a new window.....
