Steve, I am trying to do virtually the same thing. I need to create a
role in which the user can list modify courses and also look at them
like the full system admin role can. I have been able to get a role
pretty much sorted to list modify courses and users etc but you still
cannot view the course unless you enrol yourself to it via list modify
courses. A bit of a tedious task when a user with this role, i.e head of
faculty wants to check all the courses that are on Blackboard for their
faculty.
The roles seem to be very focused in their origin and cannot be really
tailored to fit any needs.
The role I used as a base was the course administrator role and changed
a couple of user privileges to tighten it up a little.
The moral of the story though is that the user privileges in Blackboard
6.2 are very, very restrictive. The flexibility just doesn't seem to be
there with regards to user privileges.
I'd love to see Blackboard give us a totally flexible user privileges
option set from where we can create custom user roles enabling and
disabling any part of the system for that role.

Subject: System User Privileges
Hi All,
I was wondering whether anyone has managed, by Building Blocks or
otherwise, to create a System Admin role that only lets the user, List /
Modify Courses and List / Modify Users but nothing else. User Privileges
only work to a certain extent. Maybe I am missing something obvious.
Steve
