Hi
I believe the problem is caused by a bug in the activex word plugin in
Office 2000 service pack 1, and an upgrade to the service pack will fix it.
Sorry I can't give more info but I'm only able to reply to email at the
moment.
Thanks
Ray

Subject: Blackboard and Word
Can anyone help please,
Using some combinations of IE, Word and Windows we are not able to view
Word documents stored within Blackboard (V5).
When a link to a Word document is clicked, an embedded version of Word
opens up within IE (as expected) but the document is blank. Sometimes
the document appears correctly every second time the link is clicked.
This behaviour has been seen with various combinations of IE6, IE5,
Win98
& WinXP. On the other hand apparantly similar combinations on other PCs
accessing the same links have been shown not to suffer from the problem
so we are not sure whether this is a plugin problem or a configuration
problem or a version incompatibility problem.
This problem only affects Word documents stored within Blackboard - all
others such as Excel, Acrobat, HTML, etc work as expected by allowing
the material to be viewed embedded within the IE browser.
