> Now in its third year, the Commonwealth Film Festival will take place
April 30th - May 9th 2004 in Manchester, England, as a non-competitive
showcase for nearly 300 features, shorts and documentaries from the 72
nations of the Commonwealth.
>
> Taking over multiple screens and party venues across the city centre, the
Festival is a highly anticipated landmark on the British cultural calendar
and one of the largest film festivals in the United Kingdom. Over the past
two years the Commonwealth Film Festival screened over 500 films and was
host to nearly 300 industry delegates and filmmakers from around the world.

> The Festival will showcase and premiere works by celebrated Commonwealth
filmmakers in Gala Screenings, as well as works from emerging artists. The
focus will be on original and personal films with the potential to entrance
a diverse audience, on works and artists who define the Commonwealth at the
dawn of the 21st century. A full programme of discussions, seminars and
workshops involving visiting filmmakers, critics and academics will
accompany the screenings.

shorts and documentaries made within the Commonwealth. Send your completed

> REQUIREMENTS
>

> ELIGIBILITY
>
> Films must have been completed after November 1st 2002 to be eligible.
Films must have been produced or co-produced with a Commonwealth Nation
> All shooting formats are accepted. Exhibition prints must be Beta Pal, 16
or 35mm only. Non English-language films must be subtitled in English.
>
> SUBMISSION
>
> Only VHS (NTSC or PAL) videotapes will be accepted for preview. DO NOT
send master tapes or film prints for preview screenings. Viewing tapes must
be labelled with the title, running time and full contact details (including
name, address, phone number and e-mail). Delivery cost for the viewing tape
will be borne by the applicant. Works submitted in languages other than
English must be subtitled unless otherwise agreed with the festival. All
preview tapes will be added to the CFF archives and will not be returned.
>
> TIMEFRAME
>
> All submissions must be received by January 25th 2004. You will be
notified of the programmer?s final decision by April 1st 2004. Successful
applicants must confirm print availability within 14 days of receiving
notification, quoting the relevant reference number. Please send a copy of
the entry form for each individual submission or each film on a showreel.
Tapes received without entry form will not be screened.
> If you are sending work from outside the United
> Kingdom, please indicate on the outside of the package, "for cultural
purposes only, no commercial value" or you may be required to pay customs
duties. Please include the following documents with each submission:
preview tape, completed and signed submissions form, synopsis and/or press
kit. Stills can be sent on disc or be emailed to [log in to unmask]
in high-resolution jpeg format.

> PRINTS
>
> The CFF will accept responsibility for technical damage, fire and
destruction, loss or theft, during the period of time that prints are in
possession of the festival, or if lost when being returned by the festival.
Film prints are insured for their print value (or part thereof) only.
Delivery cost of the exhibition print will be borne by the applicant. The
CFF will cover return or forwarding costs of the exhibition print but not
any additional charges which may be incurred at the consignee?s end.
> Programmed works may be excerpted (up to 3 minutes) for television and
other promotional purposes.
