LEGACY

AFRICA IN THE 21st CENTURY - PUBLIC MEETING
SATURDAY 14 JUNE 2003; TIME: 6pm
PAN-AFRICANISM (FACT OR FICTION?)
VENUE: CONWAY HALL (BERTRAND RUSSEL ROOM), 25 RED LION SQUARE, LONDON
WC1
[NEAREST STATION - HOLBORN ON PICCADILY/CENTRAL LINES]
Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana and a Pan-Africanist strategist said
that "If we do not formulate plans for unity and take active steps to form
political union, we will soon be fighting and warring among ourselves with
imperialists and colonialists standing behind the screen and pulling vicious
wires, to make us cut each other's throats for the sake of their diabolical
purposes in Africa." 7 January 1961
What do we see happening in DR of Congo, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Zimbabwe,
Sierra Leone, Sudan, Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire? What has capitalism got to do
with Pan-Africanism? Is socialism not foreign to Africans? Is being a
socialist not the same as moving from christianity to islam and buddhism? Is
Nkrumah's legacy relevant today? Is the legacy alive or is it just a dream?
COME AND FIND OUT FROM PRESENTATIONS BY:
(1) Asari St Hill (All African People's Revolutionary Party - AAPRP)
(2) Maxine Davis (All African Women's Revolutionary Union - AAWRU)
