Northamptonshire Black History Project

School Teacher Consultant
For the Northamptonshire Black* History Project
in partnership with University College Northampton
We are seeking to recruit a qualified teacher from either a primary or
secondary school to undertake a short term consultancy role as part of an
exciting phase of the Northamptonshire Black History Project (NBHP).
The project would involve identifying the opportunities and needs for
developing Black history within the schools curriculum at primary and/ or
secondary level.
Your role would involve identifying potential use of some of the resources
created by the Northamptonshire Black History Project over the past 2 years
and the opportunities for implementing these within local schools. An
important part of your role would involve liaising and discussing with local
teachers and education professionals ways in which these resources can be
used to support the inclusive agenda in schools.
As part of this consultancy, we expect you to develop approaches to
developing at least one of the resources as a means of communicating their
potential use in the classroom. Should you wish to develop this further
there is the opportunity to take this forward for accreditation as a
school-based module within UCN’s Masters degree. Module fees for this
module will be waived as part of UCN’s commitment to the project.
We anticipate that you will present your results during a conference to be
held by the Black and Asian Studies Association (BASA) at University College
Northampton in April 2005.
The consultancy will be for 30-35 days. This can take the form of a
secondment, for which supply cover will be paid, or the equivalent payment
for a short-term contract. Ideally your project would commence from
November 2004 until March 2005, although the starting date is subject to
negotiation. You will be based at University College Northampton (UCN) in
the School of Education.
