38th International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) World Conference
The 38th World Conference of the ICTM will be held on 3 - 10 August 2005
at the University of Sheffield's spacious and attractive Ranmoore House
Hall. The conference is to be hosted and organised by the Department of
Music, University of Sheffield in partnership with the British Forum for Ethnomusicology, the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and the British Academy. For full details, please see
the ICTM conference website: http://www.ethnomusic.ucla.edu/ICTM/2005uk/ICTM%20Homepage.html.
The closing date for paper submissions is the 1st November 2004. This
conference's themes are: Music, Dance and War; Reviving, Reconstructing,
and Revitalizing Music and Dance; Applied Ethnomusicology and
Ethnochoreography; Music, Dance, Islam; New Research.
Since the BFE is one of the hosts, we are hoping that there will be a
strong turn-out from BFE members. This world conference is not only the
first such meeting in Britain for nearly 40 years but equally a great
chance to let the wider world find out more about the strength of current
work by BFE members.
