Mazorca Projects Ltd - Maternity Cover - Bureau co-ordinator

Job Title:
Bureau Co-ordinator
Reports to:     Chief Executive
Type of Contract        3 days a week (21 hour)  PAYE

Role:
Information management,Resource development,Information Co-ordination

To ensure that all information including press coverage and 
participation in key events is logged, filed and made accessible to both 
staff and members through the Bureau or intranet/extranet
Ensure all journals are catalogued, entered onto the Bureau intranet 
and made available to members/staff
Research and Source new books and enter into system for use in the Bureau
Provide info to web editor for review potential of new material

                Bureau Co-ordination

Exhibition Co-ordination: Ensure that Bureau works effectively and is 
well resourced and responds to the needs of members
Book in, assist and encourage full use of Bureau by visiting members
Ensure Bureau is maintained and kept in order following usage
Look at long term development of Bureau, review at key stages, its use 
by target membership groups
Ensure appropriate material available to compliment networking sessions.
Provide fact sheets for key areas of interest to members in conjunction 
with relevant specialists.
Ensure that visiting members using the Bureau provide feedback on the 
service which can be acted upon

Support and contribution to the development of Design and Manufacture 
Project.
Provide support material for project and individual briefs to 
participants in project


General
Assist on other key Hidden Art projects and events where required i.e. 
Open Studios.  This may involve out of hours and overseas working to be 
arranged in advance.

The above represents the job tasks as they currently stand and defined. 
However the nature of the role and the way the organisation works, 
requires that the individual needs to be flexible and willing to 
undertake other tasks which would be reasonably expected of them.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

It is crucial that the successful candidate understands that Mazorca 
Projects Ltd. is a not-for profit company limited by guarantee working 
for the community. Its directors, employees and other team members do 
not benefit from any financial surplus, which may result.. Therefore, a 
great deal of enthusiasm, effort and dedication are expected from the 
candidate.

HOURS/SALARY

The successful candidate will be required to work a 21 hour week 
exclusive of lunch hours.

The required working hours are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm but it may be 
necessary to work out of hours on occasion. Some travel abroad may be 
necessary.

Temporary Contract. Maternity cover (3 September 04 until 2 March 05). 
The salary will be in the range of £18,000 - £20,000 pro rata.

ANNUAL LEAVE

There are 13.2days (pro rata from 22 days)  annual leave excluding 
public holidays.

designer-makers enabling them to develop from sole trader to a small 
business and beyond. Mazorca Ltd. is the trading arm of the company and 
Mazorca Projects Ltd. is the not-for-profit arm. (company limited by 
guarantee).

HIDDEN ART

The brand ‘Hidden Art’ was started in 1994. It was the name given to a 
small open studio weekend promoting the work of 43 Hackney-based 
designer-makers.

A registered trademark, ‘Hidden Art’ now incorporates a range of 
initiatives, and Mazorca Projects currently works with over 1,800 
designer-makers based in the Thames Gateway, Lee Valley and Inner East 
London areas.

Events for 2004 include:

A Stand at 100% Design (24-27 September) and participation in the London 
Design Festival through selected Open Studios and a retrospective at the 
Geffrye Museum.
The ‘Hidden Art Revealed’ shop/showcase open 6 weeks prior to Christmas 
that will also signpost visitors to studios in the wider area that will 
be open.
The Launch of two Hidden Art franchises.
Showcasing opportunities abroad i.e. enabling over 35 designer-makers to 
exhibit at the Milan Furniture Fair, Italy in April.
A series of networking and training events for designer-makers – Hidden 
Art tailored training, including monthly networking sessions held in the 
evening, throughout the year.
Projects that build links with manufacturing companies (the Hidden Art 
Design & Manufacture Project and development of the Hidden Art Bureau).

All of these are promoted through the Hidden Art website 
www.hiddenart.com which features up-to-the-minute news and information 
along with an extensive directory of designer-makers’ work. Please refer 
to the website for further information.

While expanding the services provided for designer-makers, the vision of 
Mazorca Projects is to be recognised as an international platform and 
meeting place for designer-makers from different backgrounds and cultures.

We will achieve this by continuing to provide tailored support to 
designer-makers, enabling them to develop into successful businesses.
