Barnes gets grant to
organize collection
documents

The Barnes Foundation, which houses billions of dollars worth of
Impressionist paintings in Merion, Pa., received a federal grant to organize
documents in the collection, the organization said Wednesday.
The grant of $95,397 from the National Endowment for the Humanities will
help pay for a two-year project to re-house, arrange and catalog writings,
financial documents, correspondence and other records of foundation and its
founder, Dr. Albert C. Barnes. The Barnes has more than 200 linear feet of
manuscript material dating from 1900-80.

Closed clinics' files due to be destroyed

Two years after a medical practice went bankrupt, shutting the doors of eight
clinics from Hoffman Estates to Mokena, thousands of patients' medical records
that have not been claimed are likely be destroyed in a few weeks.
Former patients at clinics in Chicago and the southwest and west suburbs have claimed only a small percentage of 250,000 abandoned records. About 35,000 of 98,000 records have been claimed by patients at defunct clinics in Hoffman Estates and Elk Grove Village, officials said Tuesday.

Supes consider options to preserve courthouse records

The Attala County Board of Supervisors responded to critical letters about record-keeping at the courthouse, saying they may consider building cabinets on the third floor to protect the historic documents.
"Whose responsibility is it?" board president Eddie Womble asked board attorney John Shaw.
Shaw said keeping records was up to the clerks of each office.

ways to weave memories into today’s everyday lives. With a mission of
bringing the community’s past to the present, Silverton Country Historical
Society has special programs planned during Silverton’s yearlong
Sesquicentennial celebration.
Its project, Preserving Memories of our Elders, currently involves three separate
activities, including videotaping people sharing their memories of Silverton
country’s residents and places on Saturday, videotaping monthly meetings, and

A fired FBI analyst in Dallas pleaded guilty Tuesday to improperly accessing and disclosing information on open federal investigations and later lying to authorities when questioned about his actions.
Jeffrey D. Fudge, 34, of Lancaster admitted to exceeding his authorized computer access to FBI computer systems and files, one of which contained information about his brother, according to court documents filed with the plea agreement.

records in Finneran probe

Federal investigators have seized files from some State House computers that were used in
legislative redistricting, according to two senior legislative sources. The agents were gathering data,
including deleted e-mails and other documents, as part of their probe into the veracity of House
Speaker Thomas M. Finneran's testimony in a federal civil court case.
ADVERTISEMENT The FBI, using a subpoena it had delivered to the Special Committee on
Redistricting on March 10, went to Beacon Hill last month and removed the information from the
computers used by the Senate to draw districts for the 2002 election, said the sources, who asked not
to be identified.
The agents were particularly seeking any documents, either e-mails or letters, that showed Finneran
was in contact with the Senate map-makers over redistricting. Such documents do not exist,
according to one of the legislative sources.
