Norfolk County Council is seeking to recruit a Corporate Information Officer/Records Manager to take the lead in implementing a records management strategy for records in all formats and which is robust enough to meet all the challenges of the Freedom of Information Act, 2000. This is a new post created in order to assist the County Council in its preparations for the full implementation of the Act in January 2005.
Reporting to the County Archivist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring compliance with records management policies and procedures across the whole authority, liaising closely with the County Council's Data Protection Officer and taking strategic responsibility for the County Council's Publications Scheme. You will deliver training courses and presentations, and promote good records management practice at all levels within the County Council, and will also provide specialist advice and support to departments.
Educated to degree level, with a recognised professional qualification in records and/or archive management, you will have a strong track record in the information management field, together with an awareness of the relevant information legislation and of current issues in the field of records management. Strong management, presentation, communication and ICT skills are also required.
The post is based in the Norfolk Record Office, which is now housed in the state-of-the-art Archive Centre, adjacent to Norfolk's County Hall in Norwich, and which opened to the public in November 2003. This post is a Politically Restricted Post under the Local Government and Housing Act, 1989.
