There will be the first proper meeting of North East Digitisation (NED) at
1.30pm, Monday April 5th at NEMLAC.
This meeting is for everyone in the North East who is currently involved in
a digitisation project, or is researching or applying for funds for future
digitisation projects.
This meeting has grown out of the Sense of Place North East (SoPNE)
consortium meetings, where the project leaders of 4 NOF funded projects -
IMAGINE, Tyneside Life and Times, FARNE and Northumberland Communities have
met regularly to discuss their projects, and the various issues around
digitisation.
We think that there is a need for these meetings to be thrown open to
museums, libraries and archives throughout the region. The first meeting
will look at current and future digitisation projects, and decide on the
topics that people would like to see covered in future meetings. These
could include writing for the web, elearning, accessibility, metadata,
scanning and photography, working with external companies, etc.
The meeting will take place at
House of Recovery
Bath Lane
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE4 5SQ
A map and directions can be found at www.nemlac.co.uk
Please let me know if you'd like to attend.
