We are seeking a qualified conservator to assist with preparations for a
major redevelopment of the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and City Archives.
Collections include archives, visual arts, social and industrial history,
archaeology and natural history. For the first phase of the contract you
will concentrate on packaging of the larger format archive collections; once
these are moved you will assist with preparation of the museum collections
for removal into temporary storage and later redisplay. You will be expected
to be able to apply generic preservation principles to a wide spectrum of
materials, and have a good knowledge of at least one area of conservation.
The post would suit recent graduates from a conservation course seeking a
wide range of experience. Appointment will be by interview and practical
test.
