Developing the Use of Audiovisual Archive Collections
within the National Curriculum
The purpose of this short-term consultancy is to research, develop and
produce a report on the uses of regional audiovisual archive collections
(film and sound) within the National Curriculum. This project, funded by the
South East Museum, Library and Archive Council, is to be developed for and
with two public sector archives: South East Film & Video Archive (SEFVA) and
Wessex Film & Sound Archive (WFSA).
The project team, led by SEFVA, seeks to appoint an experienced
museum/archive education consultant with good understanding of the
educational uses of public sector heritage collections to: (i.) develop an
informed analysis of the educational value of the SEFVA and WFSA
collections, (ii.) produce a range of focussed case studies which will
identify their particular value to cineliteracy and subject areas of the
National Curriculum such as Citizenship, English and History, and (iii.)
create an education strategy for these archives which explores a range of
appropriate learning activities and projects.
The final report will provide new research into the uses of regional
audiovisual collections within formal education and be of benefit to
audiovisual archives, educational resource producers and teachers across the
UK.
