Can anyone recommend a reliable specialist removal firm for archives? The
majority of Coventry Archives collections will be going into temporary
storage in the autumn whilst our site is extensively redeveloped. A reduced
service, with advance booking of documents, will be provided from another
site for the duration of the disruption period. The move is rather complex,
as it involves 3 host institutions, and pick ups from an outstore as well as
the main repository. The car park may not be available due to archaeological
investigation, so loading options will need to be thought through with the
contractor. Owing to these factors at our end, and the need to cause minimum
inconvenience to our hosts, we would prefer to use a contractor willing to
take the time, and work with us, to ensure boxes go in the right places in
the right order first time. Local contractors used for large incoming
collections have proved lacking in this respect, despite close supervision.
I'm hoping someone out there may just have come across such a paragon.
with thanks in anticipation
