BL REACHING THE REGIONS SHOWCASE EVENTS 10.15-16.00

25 MARCH 2004, BRITISH LIBRARY, BOSTON SPA, YORKSHIRE
Chaired by Sue Underwood, Chief Executive, NEMLAC

6 APRIL 2004, BRITISH LIBRARY,ST PANCRAS, LONDON
Chaired by Helen Jackson, Chief Executive, SEMLAC

During the last 18 months, the BL has worked in partnership with Museums,
Libraries and Archives Councils NEMLAC and SEMLAC, to produce a wide range
of projects mostly aimed directly at the public, some in support of staff
development. Now that the programme is coming to an end, an opportunity is
being offered for the wider cultural professions to hear how they worked and
to see the results. A number of electronic resources have been developed and
those on the web will of course be available to all. Their developers will
demonstrate how they work and where they will be useful to your users.
The British Library's emerging and ongoing regionally focused programme will
be outlined during the day.

WHY ATTEND?
        * Full briefing on of working in partnership with the BL
        * Hear about the individual projects based at member
institutions of NEMLAC and SEMLAC
        * Ask questions about the projects from their developers
        * Try out some new electronic resources for your users
Meet colleagues from many member organisations who are active within their
regional Museums, Libraries and Archives Councils (MLACs)

YOU SHOULD ATTEND IF YOU ARE SOMEONE:
        * in a museum, library or archive or in education keen to
offer new resources to the public
        * who wants to find partnership opportunities in the future
        * interested in new opportunities and ways of working within
the new regional structures
        * enthusiastic to develop the network for museums, libraries
and archives
        * keen to exchange ideas with specialists within the community
        * on the staff of the British Library interested in creating
