Dear Stefanie,
What wooden structures did you find? I found some wood, much older though (about
6400 BP late-mesolithic!) and am wondering if it may have to do with fish-trapping. I
did not find any rope material and flax had not yet been introduced then.
Best regards, Nicolien Bottema

Thanks to all who answered me to my question concerning flax-retting!
Now, I'm rather sure that the wooden structures at Lake Zug, Central
Switzerland (7th/8th century) have nothing to do with flax-retting,
because there were only a very few flay remains in the samples. They are
rather connected with fish-trapping.
Best regards
Stefanie
