CALL FOR PARTNERS - EUROPEAN UNION PROJECT
The Universitat of Barcelona is looking for partners for the European program
Culture 2000. The subject of our project is CULTURAL LANDSCAPES OF THE PAST:
RECOVERING FIELDS AND GARDENS IN ARCHEOLOGICAL PARKS OF EUROPE. The deadline is
on the 15th of October 2004. This call of proposals is oper to Institutions of
the 25 member countries of the European Union and the associated states of
Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.
The aim of this project is the valorisation of the archeological sites through
the research, recovery and recreation of crop field and gardens. The recreation
can be carried out de facto or through multimedia techniques within the
framework of new projects of interpretation and presentation of the cultural
heritage. We suggest the creation of a network with the several projects given
impulse by different European institutions in these moments.
PROPOSAL OF ACTIVITIES:
- Research on gardens and crop fields.
- Experimental archeology and recreation of gardens and crop fields in
archeological sites.
- Virtual recreation of gardens and crop fields in archeological sites.
- Accomplishment of three/four working meetings.
- Organization of a web site on the projects.
- Workshop on the subject.
- Publication of the project and the worshop results.
TOTAL BUDGET: among 50.000 to 300.000 euros. The European Union finances even
50% of the total. The participant institutions can justify the contribution of
50% with the staff dedicated himself to the project, as well as in concepts of
acquisition of materials, infrastructures or recruitment of services. Our idea
is a maximum of 30.000 euros by partner.
The Spanish archeological sites included in the project are:
- Cova de Can Sadurní (Begues, Barcelona).- In process of construction of an
interpretation center. A part will be dedicate to the growing of the cereals
and to the beer brewing.
- Roman city of Baetulo (Badalona, Barcelona).- Study of two Roman gardens in
the Dolphin’s House and in the Ivy’s House.
- Roman city of Barcino (Barcelona), Study in the Roman necropolis Roman of the
Villa of Madrid for the study of the possible funerary garden. Is being built
an interpretation center.
- Roman city of Complutum (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid). Archeological park
where two Roman gardens associated to the Stuccoes’ House and to the
Hypolitus’s House are being studied.
- Veral de la Vallmora (Teià, Barcelona). In phase of recreation of the Roman
vineyards in a center of production of wine associated to the Roman city of
Barcino (Barcelona).
