Dear Angela,
I find in the timber used for the construction of castella in the Lower
Rhine delta, The Netherlands, (that is the stretch between the North sea and
the town of Utrecht), always a percentage of ca. 9% of Ulmus in the first
fases (ca. 40 till ca. 70 AD). After 70 AD Ulmus almost disappears from the
woodspectrum. The reason for this is prbably that the ''Auenwaelder'' along
the Rhine river in that area are all cut down by that time. I do not know of
any cultplace in connection with Ulmus, but I am very interested in more
information about that subject. friendly greetings Pauline van Rijn
