Dear All,
I hope you are all well. I wanted to draw your attention to a workshop
I'm organising at the end of this month here in Cambridge, in case it is
of interest to you or any of your students. The workshop is called ''Red
October' One Year On: Prospects for Bolivia'. The programme and
description is at the bottom of this e-mail, and I've attached the
programme and a poster as Word documents, for you to display in your
department if you wish.
Yours
Sian
'Red October' One Year On: Prospects for Bolivia. Workshop, 29th October
For many, the events of October 2003 held out the promise of a new kind
of democracy in Bolivia, symbolised in the potential of the Constituent
Assembly. For others, they were the most serious threat to Bolivian
democracy and stability in recent years. One year later, this workshop
will consider the impact of 'Red October' for Bolivia and the region
more generally. It will be of interest to development practitioners and
activists as well as students and academics with an interest in Latin
America, development and global social movements. The workshop is
organised by the Centre of Latin American Studies in Cambridge, and is
co-sponsored by the Institute for the Study of the Americas, London
(formerly ILAS). The workshop is free but places are limited, so please
book in advance by contacting Julie Coimbra, [log in to unmask]
