Running from March 29th to April 2nd 2004 at St. Hilda's College, Oxford
Randomised Clinical Trials: A practical guide to randomised clinical trial
design, analysis, interpretation & reporting
This 5-day course is co-organised by Prof. Doug Altman, Director of the
Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM), Ed Juszczak (senior medical
statistician, CSM), Prof. John Geddes, Director of the Centre for
Evidence-Based Mental Health and Dr. Mike Clarke, Director of the UK
Cochrane Centre. The aim of the course is to equip the participants with an
appreciation of the knowledge and practical skills required to design,
analyse, interpret, report and critique a randomised controlled trial. The
course will adopt an innovative, multidisciplinary approach, integrating
clinical epidemiology with biostatistics. The teaching will adopt a mixture
of styles, including didactic and highly interactive sessions and will use
problem-based learning with the aim of solving learner-identified problems
in the design, analysis, interpretation, reporting and critique of
randomised trials. The course is NOT intended to serve as an introduction
to medical statistics itself. Applications are invited from researchers and
health care professionals interested in developing/furthering their
knowledge of evaluating healthcare interventions and those persons planning
or actively undertaking randomised clinical trials.
