Applications are invited for a post doctoral researcher (Research Fellow) position to work in the EPSRC funded project Continual Resource Estimation for Evolving Software. The project will investigate the economics of long-term software evolution. The post doc researcher will contribute towards the development and evaluation of approaches for effort and schedule estimation specifically oriented towards long-lived software applications that are continually evolved. Estimation models will be built from data reflecting the evolution history of a software system. More details on the project can be found at: http://mcs.open.ac.uk/jfr46/crestes
The post selected candidate should have:
- a PhD degree, or be close to completion, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, a related area, or equivalent research experience
- skills to build and evaluate mathematical models which encapsulate patterns in the data, including experience with packages such as MATLAB or SPSS
- skills to interpret the mathematical models and results an relate them to both software engineering theory and practice
- expertise to implement and test software tools for extracting, consolidating and visualizing empirical data from configuration management systems and other software engineering repositories
Salary: £18,893 - £21,010
Start Date: 1st September 2004
12 month fixed term contract
