MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge
Research Statistician
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development
and application of statistical methodology. It is one of the UK's leading
biostatistics research institutions, and comprises a number of internationally
renowned statisticians.
The appointee will work principally with Professor Simon Thompson, undertaking
statistical analyses of major national randomised trials in vascular surgery
(endovascular sugery for aortic aneurysms, and angioplasty for intermittent
claudication). He/she will also contribute to a programme of statistical
research on cluster randomised trials and related areas. The appointee will work
in collaboration with others (both clinicians outside the Unit and statisticians
within the Unit) as well as independently in their own area of expertise.
This externally funded appointment is for three years on MRC salary band 4.
Applicants should hold a PhD or have an MSc with some years of experience of
research in medical statistics. The starting salary will be in the region of
£25,000 per annum supported by a flexible pay and reward policy and MRC pension
scheme.
