Positions for Statisticians & Modellers at Unilever, Bedfordshire

Unilever is one of the world’s largest and most successful fast-moving consumer
goods companies. Our focus is foods and personal care, and our world-famous
brands include Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Cif and Ben & Jerry’s.

We are currently recruiting for statisticians and modellers at our Colworth
Laboratory in Bedfordshire, which carries out world-class research in foods,
biosciences, safety and the environment. Statistics and modelling are critical
to our business and are carried out to high standards here. Join us, and you’ll
be working closely with scientists and experts both inside and outside the
company, influencing the development of our brands and impacting on our
business.

For all roles you will require good communication and IT skills, and experience
with major maths or statistics packages. For the junior role, appropriate
training will be given.

ROLES IN SEAC
Unilever’s dedicated Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) provides
independent assurance and support for our products and processes. SEAC has
gained a world-class reputation in risk analysis and we play a leading role in
developing international methods and approaches.

SEAC is recruiting for TOXICOLOGICAL MODELLERS / STATISTICIANS (ref TMA0604).
In this role you will provide novel insights into the assessment and control of
risk. You will be providing consultancy and working in teams with scientists,
developing and applying modelling techniques to our data and facilitating the
transfer of new techniques and approaches into Unilever where appropriate.

To join us in this role you will be able to demonstrate a wide range of
statistical skills and ideally have proven consultancy experience.
Methodologies and areas of application include PBPK modelling, Bayesian
methods, epidemiology, exposure modelling and analysis of -omics data. The
minimum qualification is an MSc in an applied maths-based subject and
experience of applying modelling techniques in one or more of the areas listed.

To support these, and other modelling roles, SEAC also has a requirement for a
JUNIOR MODELLER (ref JMA0604). In this role you will support our experienced
modellers, applying statistical and modelling techniques to toxicological,
microbiological and environmental data. The minimum qualification for this role
is a good degree and possibly a further qualification in an applied maths-based
subject.

ROLE IN DATA SCIENCES
The Data Sciences group provides statistical consultancy to the whole R&D
programme at the Colworth Laboratory. This poses exciting challenges to our
statisticians. The group tackles a wide variety of statistical applications
including design and analysis of lab experiments, consumer trials, clinical
trials (physiological and psychological), environmental and safety studies and
microarray experiments.

We are recruiting for a SENIOR STATISTICIAN (ref SSA0604) to focus on
methodology development and statistical consultancy for SEAC. You will also
coach and advise other statisticians in the Data Sciences group drawing from
your broad range of statistical experience and external contacts. You will
require an MSc / PhD in Statistics and at least 5 years experience of applying
your skills to real-life problems.
