BIRKBECK COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
LECTURESHIP IN MATHEMATICS OR STATISTICS
The School of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics at Birkbeck College
is seeking
candidates for a Lectureship in Mathematics or Statistics, to start
October 2004.
This is a permanent position, possibly subject to a probationary
period. Applicants
should have a PhD, or be close to completion of one, and will be
expected to have a
strong commitment to research, as well as an ability to teach at all
levels. Candidates
should already be authorized to work in the EU.
The successful candidate will become part of the Mathematics and
Statistics group of the
School. Current research is mainly in applications of Probability and
Statistics, with a
strong interdisciplinary orientation, but will be expanding into the
general area of
Computational Mathematics. Although preference may be given to
applicants working in
one of these areas, strong candidates from other fields are also
encouraged to apply.

Salary range: Lecturer A/B scale for Academic Staff
(£22,191 to £25,451 respectively £26,270 to 33,679 pa),
subject to experience, plus £2,284 London Allowance.
