Hi all,
I am a Ph.D. student of Statistics and I have a problem with one
distribution. Can anyone tell me where I can find a method that estimates
the distribution of the sum of one continuous and one discrete random
variable? The continuous is Gamma distributed and the descrite does not have
a known distribution (I know the distribution function but it is not known).
I have also an expression of the form P(J=i)=[Combination(2N-m;
n-i)*Combination(m; i)]/[2^(2N-m)*Combination(N; n)]. It looks like the
hypergeometric distribution but it is not. Does anyone know if it is a known
distribution or if it can be written in terms of an H-function or a
hypergeometric function?
Thank you in advance.
Makis
