IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
Division of Primary Care and Population Health Sciences
Research Fellow, statistical analyses of genome data,
£28,695 to £33,817 inclusive of London Weighting,
and
Research Associate, population genomics,
£24,405 to £28,695 inclusive of London Weighting.
The posts are funded by an MRC/DTI Link grant for a project in collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute and Solexa Ltd. The project is to develop computational and statistical tools to make cost-effective use of whole-genome DNA sequencing technology for the study of complex diseases and drug response. The Research Fellow will develop and test statistical methods for detecting genetic associations under a range of population genetics scenarios; the Research Associate will develop whole-population computer simulations of large genomic regions.
Both post holders will have a PhD in statistical or computational genetics or related field (statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, mathematics, population/evolutionary genetics). The Research Fellow will also have substantial relevant post-doctoral research experience, preferably including a good knowledge of: computational statistical algorithms; statistical software; scientific computer programming; population and/or evolutionary genetics. The Research Associate will also have experience of scientific computer programming. Knowledge of population and/or evolutionary genetics is desirable.
The appointments are both for 3 years, starting 1 June 2004 (later by agreement).
