Dear Allstat,
We are conducting a study involving a new method. The outcome of that
method was very difficult to anticipate and we were a bit optimistic. Now
when the study is done it turns out that the difference between the two
groups is fairly small, giving a low power. Now our question is: can we add
another batch of subjects (cases) to the study, and after doing our
measurements, recalculate the whole lot, as it was one big study. We know
that technically there is no problem in doing so, but is it acceptable from
other points of view.
Thanks in advance,
Joe
