CLINICAL TRIALS AND STATISTICS UNIT
SENIOR MEDICAL STATISTICIAN
Full time or part-time 3 days a week
Are you looking for a sabbatical opportunity? The Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world's leading cancer research centres, has need of you to cover maternity leave of a senior experienced medical statistician in its Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) at its Sutton site. The ICR-CTSU is accredited by the National Cancer Research Institute and has a research portfolio of many national and international phase III RCTs with a special emphasis in breast cancer treatment and radiotherapy technology trials.
You will join ICR-CTSU at an exciting time working on trials that have analytical challenges when looking at quality of life datasets, treatment morbidity and efficacy trade-offs. You would also have the potential to contribute to the development of an associated programme of translational research investigating genetic radiosensitivity. In addition you will contribute to the initiation and conduct of other randomised clinical trials of cancer treatment. This will involve working closely with clinical colleagues at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust and other collaborators in the UK and overseas.
You would have the opportunity that for up to 2 days a week you could devote yourself to a programme of associated research. If you choose to pursue your own programme of research an assessment of the relevance and likely contribution of that programme will be required to secure funding for the post full-time.
You should hold a post graduate qualification in medical statistics/applied statistics and have at least 5 years relevant experience.
This appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 1 year with a salary in the range of £33,434 pa to £39,553 pa pro rata, or for an exceptional candidate up to £47,463 pa pro rata. Excellent conditions including 30 days holiday, pension scheme, sports and social facilities.
