· Profile :
The candidate will develop research and teaching activities within the
Institute in the field of statistics and its applications. She/he will
teach theoretical or applied courses, introductory and advanced. She/he
will take part in the research activities organised by the Institute
(doctoral thesis, seminars, workshops, …) as well as in the service
activities (consultancy, continuing education, …).

General conditions
Tasks : The applicant will
- be responsible for teaching courses at one (or several) of the three
study levels (i.e. undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate) ensured by the
Institut de statistique, as well as in programmes of continuing education;
- supervise the final diploma work (i.e. master thesis) of graduate
students, as well as PhD theses;
- be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programmes.
Qualifications : the applicant will have
- a PhD degree in statistics or in a related field ;
- a significant scientific record proved by international publications ;
- either studied abroad for an extensive period or had substantial
experience outside UCL ;
- experience in and aptitude for teaching at university level ;
- the capacities required to undertake academic research at a high level
and to advise, or lead, a research team ;
- a good knowledge of both spoken and written French. If this is not the
case, the applicant should be ready to learn French within a year. Fluency
in English and other languages is an additional advantage.

- in addition, three letters of recommendation from internationally
renowned scientists non members of the UCL should be sent to the Rectorate
of the UCL, before the final date for submitting applications.
